Seeing the Signs: Suicide Prevention in Humboldt County is a documentary following two stories about surviving suicide and living with the loss of a loved one to suicide. Lea Nagy of NAMI Humboldt and Dr. Virgil Moorehead Jr. of Two Feathers Native American Family Services talk about ways to spot suicidal behavior and how to address it. Suicide is preventable. You will have the opportunity to learn from leading experts from the National Child Traumatic Stress Network, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, Concert Health, Crisis Text Line, John Jay College, and more! We will also feature BBBSA’s President and CEO Artis Stevens, Mental Health Advocate and NAMI Ambassador April Simpkins, Bigs and Littles, and local agency leaders!      

Event Overview Centered around this year’s theme, “Harnessing the Power of Caring Adults,” the Summit will highlight the critical role caring adults can play in supporting young people’s positive mental health, well-being, and safety. In all sessions, attendees will walk away with practical tools and resources, as well as a deeper understanding of actionable steps they can take to help them feel more empowered in their interactions with young people.    

For the first time ever, our opening session will be live streamed to Bigs and Parents! We hope that you will invite your Bigs and Parents to join us live on April 2nd from 1 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. ET for a session focused on addressing the mental health crisis our youth are facing across rural and urban communities.
